Meet Your Neighbor: Shanelle Pierre

"I have been a Queens Childcare Network (QCCN) affiliated provider since February 2023. I opened my licensed family group program in 2022. This year, I applied to the Queens Economic Development Center - Queens Tech and Innovation Contest. I am now a second time finalist eligible to win a $20,000 prize! On May 8, I will make my final pitch to investors at the Resorts World in New York City.
I am pitching the benefits of, and need for, a 24-hour home-based childcare program that provides services for mixed aged groups of children. This model allows for childcare outside of traditional work hours. It's especially helpful for parents who are essential workers such as police officers or medical professionals, as well as restaurant workers and home attendants.

If I win the $20,000 prize, the funds will be used to purchase healthy food, program supplies, educational materials, and pay staff. I believe there is a strong need for quality childcare catering to families who work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends. Ultimately, I want to provide a safe space for children to learn and grow while supporting diverse working families."
