Meet Your Neighbor: Sandy Needham

“I lived in my old apartment in Manhattan for 34 years. When I started to think about retirement, Jackson Heights in Queens was at the top of my list of places, mainly because of the convenient transportation. After I moved, in search of a welcoming community in Queens, I went to the Queens Pride Parade. That's where I learned about the Queens Center for Gay Seniors (QCGS). Now they’re such a big part of my weekly routine. There’s a wide range of activities and opportunities, including exercise classes, symposiums on current affairs, and creative writing. And many of the activities we have at the Center are led by the older adults. It’s quite empowering.”
