If you're looking to apply for the Summer Youth Employment Program through Queens Community House (QCH), then you're in the right spot! QCH is proud to place nearly 2,000 young people in career-building jobs and projects through SYEP this summer.

Selection into SYEP is based on a lottery. Submission of an application does not guarantee that you will be selected.

The SYEP Application Support Center is open from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm Wednesday & Thursday from March 4 to April 9th.

What is SYEP?

The Summer Youth Employment Program is the nation’s largest youth employment program, connecting NYC youth between the ages of 14 and 24 with career exploration opportunities and paid work experience each summer. Participants have the opportunity to explore their interests and career pathways, develop workplace skills and engage in learning experiences that help in developing their social, civic and leadership skills. By participating in structured project and work-based opportunities, NYC youth are better prepared for careers of the future.


What's available for my age group?

  • NYC Teens ages 14 and 15 can participate in paid project-based activities which will help them explore different career opportunities
  • Young people ages 16 to 21 can apply for paid summer jobs in a variety of industries throughout NYC

Who Can Apply?

SYEP is open to NYC youth who meet the following requirements*:

  • Must reside within the five boroughs of New York City
  • Be legally allowed to work in the United States

* Some service options have additional eligibility requirements.


FAQs

  1. How do I apply to SYEP? Click on HERE to apply for Community Based SYEP.
  2. When is the deadline? The deadline for SYEP applications is April 10th, 2020.
  3. How old do I have to be to participate? Participants must be between the ages 14-21 by July 1st, 2020.
  4. Do I need to bring any documents? Not at this time. Documents will only be collected if you are selected by the lottery.
  5. How much will I be paid? Participants 16-21 yr. old are paid at the minimum wage rate of $15 p/h. Participants 14-15 yr. old received a stipend last year of $700.
  6. How does the lottery work? Selections are then conducted by a computerized lottery system in efforts to ensure the selection process is fair.
