Housing and Homelessness Prevention

Neighborhood Preservation Program

We promote neighborhood stability by addressing the security needs of individual households while also advocating for more affordable housing and stronger tenant protections for our borough. Tenants gain knowledge and access to benefits through one-on-one counseling, learn about their rights and responsibilities through free workshops, are assisted with applying for rental subsidies such as the Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption, and receive help with negotiating lease renewals and obtaining apartment unit repairs. Our staff also provide technical assistance support to existing or in-formation tenant associations.
