Central Queens was one of the epicenters of the COVID-19 outbreak in this country, and while the worst of the pandemic is hopefully behind us, the communities served by Queens Community House are still reeling from its effects. In particular, our low-income, immigrant, and older adult participants are still vulnerable and we continue to see a high need for food, housing assistance, emergency cash relief, and various case management supports. QCH continues to shift its service model to respond to the emerging needs of our neighbors. In the last year, the organization provided over $400,000 in cash relief assistance to more than 650 families while providing wellness check-ins and comprehensive assessments to over 7,500 households.
The COVID-19 aftermath brings new challenges to the organization that requires flexible resources and able partners. The full toll of the crisis on residents will not be realized for some time, but the organization must be poised to respond to those emerging needs. At the same time, we know that our services will be critical for residents to acclimate to a new economy and social landscape. As a result, QCH is hosting its Recovering Together Event on October 21, 2021 to galvanize community stakeholders, businesses, and philanthropists to help stabilize Queens families. These funds will support the unprecedented needs across Queens and critical programming to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
Campaign supporters at all levels will receive the following benefits highlighting their generosity and commitment to the Queens community.
Submission deadline is October 14.
