For Children & Youth

Who We Are / How We Work

The Queens Community House Youth Programs provide comprehensive youth development programming for young people ages 5 to 21. Our youth participants can explore interests and passions, develop positive social connections, contribute to their community, become life-long learners, and gain meaningful experiences and, in some cases, formal credentials. Our goal is that our young people will be able to adjust to and handle life’s challenges and to be meaningful contributors to their communities.

We seek to accomplish this goal by creating a supportive environment, run by staff who understand and respect the strengths and work closely with them to develop their physical, social and learning skills through a comprehensive program of structured and challenging activities.  This work also gives participants an opportunity to relate to adult role models, who listen and guide them toward healthy and constructive decisions and choices.

In our youth work, QCH seeks to build collaborative partnerships with others who share common goals for our participants, including their parents and schools. Together, we work to develop young people who are firmly on the path to becoming healthy, responsible and caring adults, who are able and choose to resist destructive risks. Most of the programs are offered free of cost.
